| | I'm at work tonight trying to make up for lost time due to low levels of daytime concentration, and trying to jump ahead of my body's clock by finishing my work before it's time to call it quits for 8 weeks. Imminent is the one word that has articulated our coming arrival. We sure don't know when. But every day--and now every moment, I feel--brings us closer. This weekend, Noah and I stole away to Grand Haven for a retreat, an anniversary celebration. It felt daring to leave Grand Rapids with only one friend aware of our flight. I have no photographic proof that we were there; the camera battery died as Noah turned it on to take a picture of the beautiful, delicious gourmet breakfast served at our B&B. It was a delightful, slow weekend. By now, we've fallen back into the work of the week. Laundry, doctors appointment, the last childbirth class, billing for me, high school visits and file reading for Noah. I'm plodding through the ends that must be tied up, mostly waiting to be interrupted by a totally new tasks and a totally new pace of life.... Laundry will be dry in 20 minutes. What can I finish before then? |
